Countdown to Race Day!*



The Age of Sail Marathon route was measured and certified in June, 2012.
The full marathon runners may use their times to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Race Options!  Run a Full Marathon or a Half Marathon! 10K!  5K! Volunteer!

  • Run the full marathon route from the Age of Sail Heritage Museum in Port Greville to The Ship's Company Theatre in Parrsboro and back. 
  • Or run a half marathon from Port Greville to Diligent River and back to the Age of Sail Museum.
  • Starting at the Age of Sail Museum, both 5km and 10km runs will also be offered.

Route

The course will take you through historic shipbuilding communities of the Minas Basin on Route 209, from the Museum and Lighthouse parking area, through Port Greville, around the rolling hills of Fox River, along the open blueberry fields on the Diligent River flatland, the foothills of the ancient Cobequid Mountains in Wharton and onto Western Avenue into the town of Parrsboro.

 Race Kits Pick-ups and On-Site Registration

  • Saturday, August 13 -   1:00 pm to 4:00 pm - FPW Fire Hall, Port Greville
  • Sunday,   August 14 -   7:00 am to 8:00 am - Age of Sail Museum (Start/Finish Line)

Other Information:

       Sunday, August 14, 2016:
  • There will be hot home-cooked food served at the FPW Community Hall in Port Greville between noon and 2:00 pm.
  • Facilities include washrooms, warm-up and cool-down areas, and the awards venue.
  • The Awards Ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm.
  • Parking:  Participants and families are requested to park at the FPW Fire Hall and Community Centre, approximately 500 m from the Age of Sail Museum where the start/finish line is located

  • All participants must sign a waiver.  The Race Permit does not allow for runners and walkers to be accompanied by non-participants while on the race course.  This includes pets, strollers, bicyclists and vehicles. Participants must be 18 years and older.
  • A pet sitting service is available during the race.  Please reserve a space ahead of time by contacting Ava (czapalay@gmail.com)

  • Any proceeds from the race will benefit the Age of Sail Museum, The FPW Fire Department and the Shore Drive Association.
